Until March 31, 2024, GEM will be running the Mentorship 2024 Campaign to raise $50,000 to enhance mentorship programs!
GEM is a 5 Star Veritas rated charity offering a research-based mentorship program for high-school girls facing socio-economic barriers to build their professional skills and achieve their academic and career potential. Your donation empowers girls overcome obstacles and blossom into confident, empowered women.
Since 2014, GEM has empowered 954 graduates, with 94% gaining employable skills and 84% receiving scholarships.
In Canada we know:
- Women hold only 15% of CEO positions.
- Women earn $0.87 for every dollar men earn.
- Racialized women earn 33% less than non-racialized men.
These are major problems that GEM is working hard to solve. A recent third-party evaluation of GEM confirmed that every $1 donated creates a $4.49 of impact for the girls enrolled with GEM.
At GEM, we believe women mentoring women is essential for achieving gender equity and building socially and economically inclusive societies. Our girls, most impacted by the pandemic, face social isolation and limited opportunities for vital skills development. The demand for GEM has doubled in 1 year.
