Have Fun Kids

Written & Performed by Laura Anne Harris | Directed by Jessie Fraser
Part of the 2025 Next Stage Festival at the Tank House Theatre
July 3–14, 2025

“So while the things I might talk about are a bit too painful, I think it will be worth it. Like tearing off a bandaid. Like tugging at a wound. Like a memory.” Have Fun Kids

In the wake of the suicide of her friend and fellow theatre artist Jordan Mechano, performer and playwright Laura Anne Harris (Destiny, USA; Pitch Blonde) discovered more than 700 pages of his writing. Have Fun Kids is the result — a raw, tender, and quietly radical solo show that blends Jordan’s text with Laura’s own stories of grief, memory, and the fragile act of remembering.

Each performance is unique and unrepeatable, with content chosen by the audience before the show begins. Using technology, story, and small, tactile objects, the piece offers a gentle and deeply human space to talk about what we often avoid: death, love, and what we leave behind.

Directed by Jessie Fraser and created in collaboration with Christopher Lewis, Merle Harley, Alex Eddington, and Mandy MacLean, Have Fun Kids invites audiences to witness not just a story, but a process — of loss, of care, and of finding new ways to create when the world falls apart.

Accessibility: Sensory-conscious staging and a supportive audience environment.
Content Advisory: Themes of suicide and grief.
