Because you guys are spreading love as thick as peanut butter- love it!!!
Food for the Record is such an amazing initiative run by amazing people. Raising money for the food insecure in these incredibly difficult times gives me all the feels! And the BBoys swag is dope! #nosleeptillbrooklyn
I am donating because my friend is involved in making sandwiches and I think she is doing a fantastic job making sandwiches for a community very much in need.
Such an amazing cause doing wonderful work for the community during difficult times. Will continue to check-check-check it out (Food for the Record) for all your great initiatives. ?No sleep till May 20th?
Beastie Boys package – awesome!!!
Thank you for helping those in need ?
I like to believe that I have always been a huge proponent of homelessness awareness. To paraphrase the byline from NDP leader, Jack Layton’s excellent book about the subject. “Homelessness is a national crisis”. Layton was ringing the alarm when that book came out over 10 years ago,
and the situation seems to only be getting worse. We as Canadians, all need to do our part, organize and mobilize to tackle this issue head on before it reaches a point of no return.
I myself, could have had my own experiences with homelessness after I was “renovicted” twice within two years, followed by my apartment being flooded. I was fortunate enough to have good friends and family who were able to help me through those times, but I realize others are not always so lucky.
My attitudes and empathy towards homelessness was developed by the solid foundation on how my parents raised me. That foundation was further solidified when I discovered that my favourite artists shared the same views.
My favourite band is Beastie Boys.Their later music and matching political views is what attracted me to them. I was in High School when I first heard their song “Alive” on the radio and remember hearing the late MCA – Adam Yauch, rap these lyrics
“Now you can shuffle numbers but facts is facts
So many billionaires while so many lack
So before the poor decide to react
Come on party people and share up your stacks”
A good friend and colleague told me about this cause.
When I found out that it combines my favourite band and a cause I feel strongly about, I just had to participate.
I think this initiative is a great idea and as an avid record collector, hope to participate more in the future.
For anyone who is still reading this, I ask you that you please get involved in this cause. Remember that homelessness is not always a choice, that it’s more prevalent than what we just see on the street and to treat every homeless person you meet with the respect and dignity that you would treat a good friend or family member.
I will end this with another quote from MCA
“Seeing Others Are As Important As Myself
I Strive For A Happiness Of Mental Wealth
With The Interconnectedness That We Share As One
Every Action That We Take Affects Everyone”
Stay safe
Happy to donate to a great cause. Keep it up!
I volunteer with my communities Outreach program! So here’s a donation from one to another 😀
