In the hills just north of Toronto, you have an opportunity to traverse the high and low ground of DiamondBack Golf Club, just like touring pros who have played big-time tournaments at this highly respected layout.

This Richmond Hill course, which opened in 1993, appears daunting with its humps, bumps and forced carries. However, it is surprisingly playable for less skilled golfers, while better players have a great time meeting the challenges doled out by designer Rene Muylaert.

The front nine is defined by hill and dale and lots of water, while the mature-looking back nine dips into valley lands carved out of thick trees. The island green on eight is one of many highlights. The dramatic bunkering and varied green sites are key parts of DiamondBack’s diabolical charms.

DiamondBack Golf Club is so highly regarded that it played host from 1996 to 1998 for the Canadian Tour’s Infiniti Championship, and it was the site of four Canadian PGA Championships (1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003).

With easy access just off Highway 404, DiamondBack Golf Club is perennially a popular destination for golfers looking for excellence and a lot of fun.

Co-designed by PGA Tour veteran Mark O’Meara (1998 Masters and British Open champion) and renowned course architect Brit Stenson, the Mark O’Meara Course at Grandview opened in 2001. The course is aptly named as it exudes grandness from the moment you arrive.

Situated a pebble’s throw from Huntsville, Grandview features one of the most impressive of ClubLink’s clubhouses. It blends stone and wood and embodies Muskoka’s grandeur. It plays host to both weddings and banquets and can accommodate up to 250 people. A stunning patio overlooks the first hole.

Greens feature subtle breaks that one does not easily master. Large elevation changes throughout give spectacular views of Fairy Lake. Deciduous forest, granite and marshland are a few other key characteristics. Visit in the fall to witness the spectacular showing of the trees – a living reminder of what once inspired the Group of Seven to document this region’s beauty on their canvases.

Bethesda Grange Golf Course

The former Championship Course at Rolling Hills Golf Club has been transformed through a $1.5 million renovation into Bethesda Grange Golf Course, which offers both daily-fee golf and a ClubLink membership option. Bethesda Grange Golf Course is an open and forgiving golf course that still provides a challenge for better players. An easy walking course, it also features a small creek that runs through five holes. On holes three and 14, golfers are faced with the choice to lay up or try and carry the water from the tee.
