The Lie: She Should Have Known

Phoenix Arise Foundation presents:

The Lie: She Should Have Known

A cocktail evening dedicated to dismantling harmful narratives, amplifying survivor voices, and taking collective action to end sex trafficking.

This inaugural fundraising event brings together community leaders, business owners, government representatives, activists, nonprofit founders, and advocates who believe survivors deserve dignity, safety, and support—not blame.

At the core of this night is a powerful truth:

Survivors are not broken. They are Phoenixes. And they rise.

Purpose of the Evening

This fundraiser centers on tearing down the myths and victim-blaming narratives that allow sex trafficking and exploitation to persist. Narratives like “she should have known,” “why didn’t she leave,” or “it couldn’t happen to me” cause real harm—silencing survivors and preventing people at risk from seeking help.

Through education, connection, and community action, this evening will:

  • Challenge harmful societal beliefs around trafficking and exploitation
  • Center survivor resilience, strength, and lived experience
  • Raise critical funds to support survivors and those at risk through Phoenix Arise Foundation’s trauma-informed programs
  • Foster meaningful collaboration across sectors to prevent trafficking and support long-term healing

What to Expect

This thoughtfully curated cocktail event blends impact, education, and celebration in a way that is respectful, empowering, and engaging.

Guests will enjoy:

  • A red carpet welcome
  • Live DJ and curated atmosphere
  • Professional photographers & photo booth
  • A live painter creating artwork throughout the night
  • Light snacks and refreshments
  • A fun interactive game with purpose
  • 50/50 draw
  • Live auction and silent auction featuring donated items and experiences
  • Powerful moments of learning, reflection, and community connection

Who Will Be There

This is more than a fundraiser—it’s a networking and impact event.

The room will be filled with:

  • CEOs and business owners
  • Government representatives and policymakers
  • Activists and advocates
  • Nonprofit and charity founders
  • Community leaders and allies
