To recognize our 20th anniversary of service our goal in 2025 is to increase our impact by 20%. To accomplish this we need to raise $50,000 so we can:

• Build homes and shelter for 5 families.
• Initiate 5 new community projects.
• Increase our scholarship fund to support 35+ students.
• Expand our general education support.
• Provide more work for local people.

In April 2025, our 18th team of volunteers will travel to Sri Lanka to assist with the building projects and meet with our students.

RESULTS SO FAR

With thanks to our donors and volunteers:

• 63 families are in new homes.

• 50+ kids are in our education programs annually.

• 35 students have graduated from university.

• Up to 15 Sri Lankans are employed every year.

• 274 volunteers (17 teams) have given their time in Sri Lanka.

• This represents more than 11,000 hours of volunteering!

Getting Started: After the 2004 tsunami devastated the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, TRIP Canada was founded to help rebuild. The project started with a village for homeless survivors and developed into an ongoing program to build homes, infrastructure and education programs. Canadian volunteers travel every year to experience the life-changing rewards of international volunteering and play an active role in helping families living in poverty.

Through collaboration with local partners, these programs have continually adapted to ensure that efforts are driving sustainable and measurable change for the community. TRIP Canada selects beneficiaries for its programs working with community leaders – Monks, Teachers, Village Mayors and Navajeevana, an organization which provides services for disabled adults and children.

TRIP employs a full-time Project Manager and hires local people for all building projects, local education programs and volunteer team support. Building projects are selected annually based on funds raised. Then a team of local workers is hired to see the projects through to completion. They work closely with the Canadian team when the volunteers come each year to spend 10 days working. The volunteers ‘witness’ the difference they make in people’s lives and feel the impact on their own. TRIP Canada’s deep roots in the community and strong bonds with the local people create a very meaningful and intimate volunteer experience.

We need your help, so please join us today! 100% of the funds donated support our projects.
