Your $50 gift will provide a mother and her baby in North Korea with micronutrient Sprinkles during pregnancy and nursing (12 months) , and their child from 6 to 24 months of age.
First Steps is combatting micronutrient deficiencies in North Korea by providing sachets of specially coated micronutrient powder called Sprinkles to pregnant and lactating women and their babies. Sprinkles are easily mixed with food without altering taste, appearance, or texture and so are well-received.
The first 1000 days of life are crucial for infants to receive proper nutrition to continue in normal development. Unfortunately, deficiencies in micronutrients (also known as hidden hunger) are prevalent in North Korea and can lead to a variety of negative outcomes for both pregnant women and infants such as anemia, and low-birthweight, and poor physical and cognitive development.
Your $50 gift will provide a mother and her baby with enough micronutrient Sprinkles to get the mother through pregnancy and nursing (12 months), and their child from 6 to 24 months of age.
