Do you love books? Over 30 Railway City Little Free Library boxes exist in St Thomas, Ontario and we need your help to keep them maintained.
Monthly fill ups of books, sanitizer and general box maintenance costs add up but the boxes are invaluable to the thousands of users that enjoy taking and leaving a book and helps to encourage literacy. Sponsor a box at $ 150/yr or donate $4500 to take care of the whole fleet of boxes. The choice is yours.
Imagine a place where you can access amazing books without need for purchasing them or having a library card. The Railway City Little Free Library boxes of St Thomas Ontario exist in over 30 neighbourhoods and provide the ability to take or leave books to share the joy of literacy with others in the community. When traditional library spaces closed during the pandemic, these boxes became invaluable and now they are the heart of many neighbourhoods. There are many wonderful stories of how having access to books continues to bolster people’s mental health and the ease to obtain access crosses all economic barriers bringing people together from equity diverse backgrounds. On a monthly basis our team at the STEAM Education Centre charity cleans and refills the boxes with books and hand sanitizer, communicates with local literacy groups, provides maintenance to the boxes from weather and human damage all in an effort to continue to provide what has become the pride of many neighbourhoods. The average cost per box to maintain is $150/year. Sponsor a box or champion the whole city of boxes for a year at $4500.
